The Theatre Department at Columbia College Chicago requested a team of students in the capstone Practicum: Graphic Design V class to create a bold and daring, cohesive design theme to unify their five upcoming shows for the 2021 season. The largest hurdle was creating a theme to tie all 5 productions together visually while working with COVID restrictions—despite their radically different tones and title lengths. By utilizing a typographic theme, we were able to lean into creating individual self contained environments for each via the vibrant flooded type background.
